Cultivating traditions through a synchronicity of evolution and progress, this year the Waterpieces festival will satiate the palates of audiovisual art connoisseurs for the ninth time. Throughout its history, experimenting and stretching the boundaries of artistic expression, the festival has preserved its specific aura by occupying the most diverse forms and scopes and addressing both artists and art lovers.
The festival is traditionally comprised of competition and festival programmes offering a miscellany of unusual acoustic, movement and visual presentations. It is also a showcase for globally renowned festival and experimental film archive programmes which are complemented by presentations by curators and creative workshops. This year, the festival will focus on “pixel art” which at an associative level brings to mind the first computer games such as the colour classic "Tetris", but which nowadays has become a stimulating and challenging medium of expression for artists.
